Michael
Burges
Gemälde No.25

Artist: Michael Burges

Michael Burges paints abstract color compositions, which are characterized by brilliance and high-glossy feel. His image carrier is acrylic glass, on which he paints on the backside. After studying Comparative Religious Studies, Ethnology and Indology from 1974 - 1984 he discovered painting in 1981. In his paintings he visualizes abstract and spiritual phenomena with the traditional means of painting.

Burge's "Reverse Glass Paintings" deal with laws of nature and structures, especially physics. He is a painter who in his reverse glass paintings is primarily focused on the paintable matter at hand, and less on the narrative line. Out of a combination of logic and emotion, he creates images infused with a rush of colors, with a very wide palette, from monochrome to extreme colorfulness.

Michael Burges has just published a new catalog "Reverse Glass Painting Catalog 2010 - 2013". In the current exhibition we not only show his intensely colorful reverse glass pictures, but also his calm meditative gold leaf and silver leaf works with restrained colors.
