Gemälde Otto Ritschl

Artist: Otto Ritschl

Otto Ritschl, born in 1885 in Erfurt, lived in Wiesbaden until his death in 1976. After a painting ban during the Nazi period, he developed his personal abstract painting style in the 1950s, based on geometric and constructivist forms. In 1955 and 1959 he was represented at the Documenta in Kassel. In his late work, swatches of color and cloud-like shapes in pronounced bright colors are central. Ritschl was awarded the Medal of Honor of the City of Wiesbaden in 1975. He is a well-known representative of the Classical Modern Age.
